Tips for renting a paddle board

Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is a fun and diverse sport which is very easy to get started with. A beginner should consider a few important things before hopping on a board:

How should I gear up for paddle boarding?

You rarely fall off from our hard and stable SUP board if you don't want to, but it is always good to prepare for it just in case.

  • On warm days bring with you sportswear, spear clothes and a towel.
  • During cool or rainy weather, bring a light jacket or a long-sleeve shirt. We also offer wetsuits and neoprene socks if the waters are colder.
  • Water, sunscreen and a snack is also always good to have with you.

Can a beginner rent a SUP board?

Yes, but we highly recommend our 2h SUP beginner's course and paddling trip for first time paddlers. It provides you with great basic paddling techniques and confidence, to make paddle boarding more enjoyable.

A beginner paddler may also rent a SUP and go out independently. Our crew will guide you with the basics, paddling technique and give you tips on suitable paddling routes.

Here are the most important tips:

  • A beginner should choose a hard and stable SUP
  • Choose a day with light winds and/or sheltered paddling location
  • Plan your route so that you begin paddling against the wind first
  • A leash is a mandatory safety equipment, but we also strongly recommend using flotation vests when during paddling

Should a paddle board be reserved in advance?

We have plenty of SUP boards available and most often we'll have free boards if you just drop-in. However on very warm days, weekends and if you already have a set paddling time in mind, we advise you to reserve a board. It is quick and easy!
